I have mentioned about movies turned into Nintendo DS game, and so as more movies come out more Nintendo DS games linked with the movie is released. How to Train a Dragon, a new movie from Dreamworks, takes a new twist on Vikings and Dragons.

The lead character by the name of Hiccup, is a son of the Viking chief, Stoick. The Vikings go on with their lives killing dragons that raid their lands. As the title goes, Hiccups goes and trains as a dragon killer. But Hiccups does not and cannot kill a dragon.

Ok, there is father-son issues, conflict of interest.

Iron Man 2 for Nintendo DS

Iron Man 2 after so much waiting is finally to be released today--officially. It's not only comic fans or movie fanatics who should rejoice. Gamers could try out the Iron Man 2 game for Nintendo DS. Tony Stark is coming back to the screen. And *spoiler alert*, a strong nemesis with similar power as he is comes to challenge him. And allies will be formed too. The one in the grey suit in the picture below is another Iron Man suit used by friend. Yes, Tony Stark retains the red and gold suit. Upgrades to the suit is seen in the movie.

If you are fan of Marvel comics, a new character debuts into the movie, Black Widow. She got really cool moves. Capt. Fury, of the Avengers, also make an appearance. * More spoiler* In the ending credits, Capt. Fury gets a call about a 'blast' in 'Mexico' and reveals Thor's Hammer. It seems the movie is hinting the upcoming movie.

Will this be the end of Iron Man? Well, the plan is a trilogy. So before Iron Man 3 gets shown, enjoy the Nintendo DS game.

G-Force (Nintendo DS) Review

This movie is a blockbuster and I enjoyed it. The G-Force the video game is an exciting action-platformer that draws you into the adventures of an elite team of trained guinea pigs on a mission to thwart a sinister plot to destroy the world. Take control of both G-Force commander Darwin and his housefly surveillance sidekick, Mooch, as they apply their talents to defeat an evil army of altered household appliances.

Key Features:

Battle an army of evil robots with cool weapons and high-tech gadgets not seen in the movie.
Play as Darwin, the leader of the G-Force, and Mooch, your housefly commando sidekick.
Fast-paced Bruckheimer-style action and combat.
Play fun mini-games to hack into and take control of evil appliances.

One down side is that a lot of jumping and whipping air vents to move from area to area and gets repetitive after awhile. Also you'll need to see the movie to truly understand what these characters are like. And the manual is the absolute pits. And they are complaints over short gameplay. There are only six missions so the game is finite by design. The extras keep you on their toes, so if one gets missed you might not see all there is to see.

The same title is also released for Sony PSP. It is sad to note that the limited memory in the Nintendo DS pushed the developers to axe out the audio of the game. The cut scenes in the PSP are very good compared to the mute ones in the Nintendo DS. It was a bad decision.

Aliens in the Attic (Nintendo DS) Review

Okay, lately I've been exploring games adapted from movies. Sorry to disappoint but this is another review of a game adapted to the Nintendo DS platform from the wide-screen.

The game closely follows the story of the movie, and you'll take collective control of Tom, Jake, and Hannah throughout the adventure. Aliens have invaded your attic, of course, and it's up to the trio to save the world. Aliens in the Attic on DS is something of a platforming shooter, so liberties are taken in terms of the size of rooms and the overall expanse of your abode. Well, most game adaptations of movie permit you to play one of the main characters.

each of the three main characters has a little something unique to offer the gameplay, and you'll often be required to switch between characters on the fly (using the shoulder buttons). Tom's the brains of the bunch, so he's the only one who can make use of the alien gadgets you'll acquire throughout the game. Jake's the oldest and strongest of the group, and it's up to him to move heavy objects, either for use in navigating higher platforms, or simply to clear a pathway for your team. Lastly, Hannah is the smallest and most agile; she can double jump, as well as make her way through narrow passages.

Each of the two boys are equipped with homemade guns (compliments of Tom's handiwork), which can be upgraded via items that will be passed on to you when you rescue neighbors and family members throughout levels. Upgrades include a homing device, ammo that can knock back enemies, as well as a nozzle that creates a spray of bullets. Though there's infinite ammo, you will need to keep an eye out for grenade and health pick-ups

Unfortunately, the game won't last you much longer than that, and clocking in at a mere three hours (four tops) for a single playthrough. On the plus side, the game looks and sounds really good. The graphics engine is reminiscent of what we saw in Spider-man: Web of Shadows (DS), and there are some really impressive smoke and lighting effects throughout the game. The texture work is really smooth, and the animation is rock solid. The only real sore spot in the visuals were the boss battles.

One Disney movie I enjoyed is Up. You can now get an adaptation of the movie into your Nintendo DS.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Nintendo DS) Review

There are several movie titles being adapted into the Nintendo DS platform. One of them is the movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. What I can say about the movie is that it make me hungry with all the colorful food.

As for the Nintendo DS game, it is boring and does not follow the story in the movie. At this rate, the movie did not leverage the Nintendo DS game.

You play Flint, which the main character of the game and of the movie. You will use crazy gadgets to interact with giant pieces of food throughout the game. Master each gadget and use them together to stop the machine that's causing the food mayhem. You get to try 5 different fun gadgets and one vehicle specially designed to manipulate giant pieces of food. There are more than 20 levels spread out over 7 different environments taken straight from the movie storyline.

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (Nintendo DS) Review

I was first attracted to Professor Layton and the Curious Village with its cute graphics. The game was enjoyable that at the last part I was hoping for another installment for Nintendo DS. Finally Professor Layton and Luke comes back with another brainteaser adventure in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.

For those new to the game, Professor Layton in all its series is a unique puzzle game for Nintendo DS and DSi that mixes an engrossing storyline and entertaining characters spread throughout a variety of environments, with addictive and varied stylus-driven puzzle play.

In this game you take on more than 150 puzzles included with the game, and more available via download, as you challenge your senses and logic to eventually solve a puzzling mystery.

Professor Layton and th Diabolical Box takes further the original game, with more locations to explore, significantly more animated cutscenes and the deeper level of voice talent employed.

In this installment of Professor Layton, Dr. Schrader turns up dead with no clear answer as to why, it's up to the renowned puzzle-solver and his apprentice, Luke, to unravel the mystery. The only clue thus far is a train ticket for the Molentary Express. What could it mean, and who — or what — might have caused Dr. Schrader's death? In order to find out, Professor Layton and Luke will embark on an odyssey filled with challenging puzzles which may lead them to an object known as the Elysian Box, rumored to kill all who open it.

The puzzles which are around every corner and nook are great - some are more difficult then others and for the most part I have solved the ones given - hint coins that are found throughout the game can come in very handy especially if you need more clues and solve the puzzle quickly. Some puzzles are really hard that I used quite a lot of hint coins just to solve it.

Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands (Nintendo DS) Review

I am a follower of farming games even in Facebook. As for the Nintendo DS platform, I have played Harvest Moon in all its variations and I also played Rune factory. After Harvest Moon: Island of Happines comes Harvest Moon: Sunshine Island. Natsume really chose joyful names for the Harvest Moon titles.

For those who haven't tried playing Harvest Moon Nintendo DS games or Rune Factory, you may find Harvest Moon: Sunshine Island monotonous, repetitive and boring. Basically, you start for first timers and just like other Harvest Moon games, with a plot of land that is covered with weeds, rocks and logs. Your job is to clear it out and plant crops to make money and in general improve your farm. There are four seasons with 30 days in each, and you plant crops according to the seasons, water these crops and harvest them when the time is right.

But it is not all planting, you have to collect sun stones to open up new islands. To name these islands, you can have the Volcano Island where you can mine. another is the Animal Island in which you can feed wild animals that will collect resources for you. There's plenty to do, some of which will net you sun stones: You can chop wood and use it to upgrade your farm (with such upgrades as a chicken coop, a barn and a kitchen), befriend the residents, raise new islands by collecting sun stones, get married, obtain animals for your farm to take care of and collect resources from, cook, collect recipes, fish, mine, enter festivals and a lot more. These things do take time, but if you plan right you can steadily improve your farm and find new things to occupy your time on the islands.

Whew, that's a lot to do. But the game play can be slow during winter time when you cannot plant crops. Therefore, winter is a pretty good time to go fishing and mining, since these both use up stamina that would otherwise be used farming. There are 143 fish to catch, and whether you catch a lot of different fish depends on how often you fish, what time of day you are fishing and your location. The actual act of fishing is basically just waiting for an exclamation mark to appear over your character's head and quickly pressing the "Y" button, but in a way it's still fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (Nintendo DS) Review

In The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Link has a valuable new companion in combat and puzzle-solving, the Phantom. A faceless knight in a hulking suit of armor with immunities to dangerous elements like fire and magma, the Phantom responds to Link's directional commands. Players can simply tap the Phantom with their stylus to take command of him, then draw a line on the touch screen to direct him where to go. He will engage enemies automatically when he comes within range of them. The stout Phantom can also be used as a platform to carry Link above and over dangers, or even run interference to block Link from harm or help finish off an enemy.
New In-game Items
Spirit Tracks also introduces a variety of new items and weapons to The Legend of Zelda franchise. One of the most notable is the Whirlwind, which Link uses to move items and overturn enemies. Players activate this by blowing into the microphone of the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi system. Other new items include a whip, useful both in combat and in platforming, as well as his train's cannon, which can shoot bombs into the distance.
Map Functionality
As with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, in Spirit Tracks players can look forward to helpful interactive map functionality. The game map appears on the system's top screen, as opposed to the action on the bottom, and players can draw notes on the in-game maps using the stylus on the touch screen. This allows players to quickly mark spots in the game world of note for later exploration, or to note them as already explored.

Play the New Ace Attorney Now!

If you have been playing Ace Attorney, you know that Miles Edgeworth is the rival of Phoenix Wright. The other series in Ace Attorney focuses on Phoenix Wright. In a previous Ace Attorney game, you play Apollo Justice. How about this time you play Miles Edgeworth's side?

Playing Ace Attorney has been favorable on my part. It is quite a game that can keep you glued to the Nintendo DS screen. Well, I have to admit, at the beginning when my analytical juices run dry I found the game frustrating. In this game you have to find contradictions. If your mind isn't open, you could think at first that everything is correct. Like there must be something wrong to get the game going so you have to find it out. You can get a free Ace Attorney Nintendo DS game to see for your self.

Anyway, going back to the new Ace Attorney Investigation series staring Miles Edgeworth. As you know in previous Ace Attorney series, the courtroom dramas are intense but there is real action at the crime scene itself. Being an attorney has been this exciting. The new Nintendo DS game is entitled Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.

*Spoiler alert*

In the new Ace Attorney installment on Nintendo DS, the crime happens at Mile's doorstep. Nothing could be more exciting than a crime under an attorney's nose. Well for this case, under the attorney's feet. You play Miles as he walks freely around the crime scene hunting for evidence and questioning the witnesses. More or less like Sherlock Holmes, you wring out the truth from these people and prove a clear picture of what really happened. This is even harder than the previous series. That could spell more enjoyment for us Nintendo DS gamers.

At IGN.com, "Through the first two cases, Miles Edgeworth is showing itself to have just enough gameplay changes to keep this fresh. The real question is whether the cases can stand up to those from past titles. The first two cases are on par. Hopefully it gets even better."

5 Interesting Things about Link of the Legend of Zelda

I am a fan of the Legend of Zelda series even when it was still in the GBA. Here are a few things you might be interested about the main character in Legend of Zelda, Link. This is from Asylum.com

1) Link is the strong, silent type

Outside of a few rare instances, Link is the most mute video game character ever, right up there with "Tetris"'s L-block and the little square from "Adventure." Sure, when cartoon Link debuts in "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" he shouts "come on!" to beak-nosed bird girl Medli, and he often yells unintelligible battle cries, but otherwise he keeps his mouth shut and his eye on the prize, which more often than not is saving Zelda's skin. Oh, and for the sake of argument, we're completely ignoring those Philips CD-i Zelda games that made us want to punch the TV in the vain hope Link would feel it.

2) The boomerang is Link's best friend

One of Link's most trusty side weapons, the boomerang has appeared in virtually every Zelda game to date. However, giving a green-tunic-wearing elf, who is able to cast magical spells and has a sword that shoots energy bolts, a boomerang does seem strange. It's like giving an Army Ranger a BB gun. Luckily, Link often has reason to use the weapon as it stuns certain enemies and retrieves far away items. We wish actual boomerangs could do that; we'd use 'em to fetch sandwiches and bottles of alcohol.

3) Link hates the movies

Despite being one of the longest-running, most popular video game series of all time, "The Legend of Zelda" has never been turned into a Hollywood film. Judging by some of Nintendo's other silver screen efforts (the "Super Mario Bros." film leaps to mind), this is probably a good thing. Can you imagine not only forcing Link to speak, but casting him? It'd be a nightmare for Zelda fanboys, who aren't just notoriously hard to please, but actually impossible to please. For what it's worth, our vote would go to Shia LaBeouf for his masterful ability to evoke raw emotion with as little dialogue as possible.

5) Link left his three hearts in Hyrule Castle

A staple of the series since its inception, Link begins each quest with a measly three hearts, which represent (obviously) his health. Taking hits from enemies decreases his life, giving an all-too-literal meaning to the term "heart attack." Link can refill his health by picking stray, floating hearts off the ground, which we'd like to think is a metaphorical call for health-care reform, specifically in regard to organ transplant waiting lists. Even Hyrule has socialized medicine, albeit in the form of smashable jars that hide healing fairies and rejuvenating elixirs brewed by witches.

5) Link travels in style

Through the years, Link's had to traverse myriad environments, from vast oceans to rolling plains. Some of the modes of transportation he's used, from least weird to weirdest: raft, horse, steam train, talking boat.

Away: Shuffle Dungeon (Nintendo DS) Review

It blends the creative talents of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, and Naoto Oshima, famed Sonic character designer. It's a simplistic role-playing game that emphasizes fast-paced dungeon-crawling and a unique presentation, but the lack of any depth or challenge makes it hard to stay interested for long.

The game is so player-friendly that it's often too easy, offering brief tutorials that explain almost every aspect, from gaining experience to shopping. Village exploration is very straightforward and occurs on the bottom screen, where it's displayed in primitive yet adequate 3D. The top screen, meanwhile, houses a convenient map that marks a star whenever your current goal is on the field, so you'll spend little time wandering around aimlessly. Most of the objectives amount to nothing more than simple, monotonous fetch quests, but if you get stuck, there's always a fortune teller to point you in the right direction, making every quest ridiculously easy.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (Nintendo DS) Review

After appearing in numerous PC and console titles, the Might and Magic universe is being brought to the Nintendo DS by Ubisoft and developer Capybara Games. I am happy it did or else I will just envying those who own another handheld or console.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a turn-based strategy played on both screens. Your army is presented on the bottom screen, and your opponent's army is on the top. Units are ordered into eight vertical rows, and you need to maximise their effectiveness by grouping similar units together. Vertically lining up three of the same unit type and colour will create an attack formation, whereas a horizontal row will result in a defensive wall that your forces can stand behind. Adding another three units to either formation will combine the two groups to make a more powerful one. The catch, however, is that you can only move units that are at the bottom of the screen, and you have a limited number of moves per turn.

While you have a limited number of units at your command, you can call in reinforcements to fill your population to its capacity. Our forces included elven archers, bears, pixies, deer, and dragons, whereas the enemy forces consisted of demons and evil knights. The type and colour of replacement units are random, making gameplay feel like a puzzle game at times. Deleting miscoloured units in between those of the same colour results in an attack formation, with the added bonus of giving you an extra move. You'll lose health if you unsuccessfully block an attack, but you can do the same to the enemy. You can also create link attacks by forming columns of the same colour and unit, which results in an attack bonus. The more links you create, the higher the attack bonus, and the wealth of tactics at your disposal means that there are plenty of different possibilities for battle.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS) Review

The reason I tried it this game was to find out if I have the mind of an attorney. This is really a new try Nintendo DS gaming. Over at Gamespot, the good point of this game is that

New forensic investigation abilities add much-needed variety
Improved visual presentation
Last case is quite interesting and provides a good payoff---I'll tell you about this is later post. No need for spoilers at his part :)

And the bad side to the game is that

Flaws such as slow pacing and linear, trial-and-error gameplay are still here
Forensic investigation tools are underused
New characters aren't as charming and interesting as the old ones. Mr. Wright looks so cool rather than Mr. Justice. And in the early part of the game, Apollo Justice acts weird compared to Mr. Phoenix Wright. He is comical but I think out of place. I can understand it is his first case but no over reacting.

There are four turnabouts (cases), all of which find you defending a client accused of murder. The first three cases are solid but aren't anything special. It's the last case that steals the show. And don't forget being an attorney is not limited to the court. In the game, . You'll spend your time out of court investigating crime scenes, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses.

While in court, you be cross-examining the defendant then the witnesses to find inconsistencies. You got use your inner lawyer skills because if you just present *any* inconsistencies by random the judge could get angry and declare your defendant guilty. You don't want that to happen as the game will end.

Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles (Nintendo DS) Review

Assassin's Creed for Nintendo DS provides an enjoyable combination of platform and combat gaming. A review at Gamespot it has been noted to have pretty visual design and good music. I totally agree :)

Then the bad side of the review was that the platforming is awkward due to clunky camera angles and control issues. The controls feel awkward for me. Like in the beginning of the game, my health points got deducted because while I was feeling for the controls, Altair fell of the building and hurt himself. This was over the planks where you have to press R of the Nintento DS while pressing forward. Then on plain ground you have to press R again and forward to walk normally or else A would be running and B for jumping.

The review added that Altair is reduced to a generic hero in ancient garb, which may be fine for Assassin's Creed fans but won't be of much interest to those new to this game universe.In the game, Altair is dressed in white while the rest of the characters are mostly in dark garb. Oh my, if it was real Altair could easily be picked out of the crowd. I guess the white garb was to allow ease on the player to see where Altair is and help with the awkward control.

Aside from that. there are mini games with the touch screen. The first one is pickpocketing. In this mini game, you are to drag the key into the opening. Altair is pickpocketing a merchant because the gate was closed and Altair needs to get in and you to continue the game. The seen in below.

Although, Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles isn't as good as the console versions, it is still a fun game. Get your Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles in Amazon or download Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chornicles for demo.

Animates (NDS) Review

This is a review by Clark Nielsen. I could not agree more.

Raising an animal requires a fair amount of patience. This couldn’t be any more true for Animates, a pet simulator that’ll tax your tolerance for boredom like no other game before it. Let’s clear this up right now to save you some time: Animates is boring. Granted, pet simulators aren’t known for their gripping gameplay, but they are at least involving in that you want to take care of your cute, little animal, watch it grow up, and maybe teach it some tricks. The five different breeds of Animates are certainly cute, but interacting with them is unrewarding and incredibly slow.

On your Animate’s birth, it is placed in a large field where you are supposed to direct its needs. When it’s hungry, you lead it to food. When it’s dirty, you make it play in the lake. But unlike Nintendogs, where many of these tasks were personalized by the use of the touch screen, interacting with your Animate is very basic. You do not get to pet them. You do not get to pick up food and hand it to them. The touch screen is still used, but commanding your Animate is done through a series of taps. Tap on the water to make your pet drink. Tap on the swing to make it play. This archaic structure prevents you from ever feeling very close to your pet, and that, on a system all about the touching, is inexcusable.

Touch control is also used to move your Animate, and this is where the game starts to become unplayable. You are supposed to tap the ground to move there, but Animates never walk very far before they sit down again. Getting them to move, then, turns into a nonstop tapping fest which is only exasperated by how slow they move in the first place. If Animates were real, we would joke about how a snail riding a turtle riding an Animate would say, “When is the ride going to start?” In other words, Animates are slow. Painfully slow. Sleep-inducing, even. I wanted to cry, because I was so bored waiting for my Animate to walk from one end of the field to the other just to use the bathroom. Yeah, that’s a great idea. Put the bathroom away from everything else!

My hope was that, once he grew up, my Animate would also learn to walk faster. He didn’t. In fact, growing up didn’t do anything. I suddenly got the notice “Your Animate grew up!” but nothing about him changed, not even his size or body shape. What is the point of growing up, then? What is the reason for living at all? Aside from eating, drinking, and pooping, Animates like to play, so I guess that gives them some reason to keep kicking. You can tap on objects like a slide or a swing and watch them have fun without you, or you can enter one of five mini-games. These are simple endeavors, though, ideas that almost pre-date the DS itself. Since when was a game of whack-a-mole with only three moles ever fun?

Tired of all the trudging back and forth, I finally tried to starve my Animate. If he attempted to go for food, I would scold him (by tapping the scold button) to keep him in one spot. Eventually, all his need meters plummeted to zero. He hung his head low and basically looked like he wanted to die. Then I felt sorry for him. So the developers did a good job in making these animals cute enough that you care about their well-being. It just feels like a major obligation to keep them happy since so little about it is actually fun. At that point, are you really playing a game?

But still if like the experience of having a virtual you may download Animates (NDS) or buy Animates (NDS) from Amazon. The cute cover deceived me.

Flips: Too Ghoul for School (Nintendo DS) Review

The Flips collection are actually books meant for reading in the Nintendo DS. When you load Flips: Too Ghoul for School, you have to hold the DS like a book to get started. You will be using the stylus to flip through thru the pages. This game is aimed at increasing your interest in reading. Along the way you hear sound effect of toilet flushing and screaming girls. At time, a glob of green becomes visible on the screen and you have to use the stylus to remove it and continue reading. At the end of the chapter you are met with a quiz to test your comprehension. Thank goodness it is only three items and it does not matter if you get all three wrong .

The graphics are good but overall, in this reading, I mean game, all you have to do is read, move the stylus and read again. For me that does not sound interesting at all. Well, if you want to check out and is feeling bored, download Flips: Too Ghoul for School. And if you like it, you may buy Flips: Ghoul for School at Amazon. Well compared to other educational games such as My Japanese Coach, improvements have to be made to make this kind of game enjoyable.

My Japanese Coach (Nintendo DS) Review

Learning a new language is big hurdle much more if the pronunciation is totally different from writing as with Japanese, Chinese and Korean. And also there is Arabic and much more. So when My Japanese coach was released for the Nintendo DS Lite, I tried this game to check if I can learn Japanese the fun way.

The game basically is broken into “lessons” and the first section is lessons 1-29. But before you could even start, you will be bombarded with a quiz. Yes, a quiz. The quiz is to check your prior knowledge of the language. The lowest level is baby. I got this classification. My friend who has been watching Anime or Japanese animation, got a rating of a toddler.

For the next hour or so my friend and I were consumed by the games and lessons and moved ahead 3 or so lessons. My reaction at this point that it is hard to learn Japanese :) Since it has E in the cover, I was expecting it to be easy. Like E equals easy, I was wrong. But, a big but, I was sucked into fun games, lessons, and training and really started to get into it. At the higher level it goes into verbs, adjectives, and the different writing styles (katakana, hiragana, and some Kanji).

Okay, the game is just not about conversational Japanese. There was writing challenges too. The writing system goes slow where you trace the characters with the stylus and after you trace it a few times it fades away and you have to write it without help. As for my friend who studied a little Japanse, even though she know all of the basic characters it really was nice to be able to practice writing in a controlled manner. Then there are games to backup your writing with recognition games and speed.

I was only playing the game for few hours and I am only 10% in, it looks like the difficultly slowly raises, but it is a fun and an interactive way to memorize and retain the language. If you have kids or your want to study a language this is a great way to start the adventure. This got me hooked, I am going to try other languages. I heard there are Chinese and Spanish and even French.
